We counted Hostel360 listings whose address text names each area, data checked October 2026. One address often names two places, such as "Hudson Lane, GTB Nagar", so the rows overlap and should not be added up. The rating column is the median Google rating of the listings that have one.
| Area / pincodes in addresses | Listings | Girls-only | Boys-only | Co-ed | Median Google rating (rated listings) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vijay Nagar / 110033, 110009 | 60 | 39 | 8 | 13 | 4.6 (55 rated) |

| Hudson Lane / 110033, 110009 | 46 | 23 | 10 | 13 | 4.65 (44 rated) |
| Kamla Nagar / 110007 | 90 | 41 | 28 | 21 | 4.75 (86 rated) |

| Outram Lines / 110033, 110009 | 11 | 4 | 5 | 2 | 4.5 (11 rated) |
Read it by lane. Vijay Nagar addresses on our listings name the Single Storey blocks, Old Gupta Colony and blocks A to G; around the station they name Hudson Lane, Wadhwa Market, Polo Road, Banda Bahadur Marg and Hakikat Nagar. Outram Lines is the one pocket where boys-only listings, 5 of 11, outnumber girls-only ones.
Two pincodes cover the GTB Nagar side: 39 of its 65 listings give 110033 and 25 give 110009, and Hudson Lane splits 26 and 20. Kamla Nagar is 110007 for 88 of 90, and it sits on the Vishwavidyalaya side, not beside GTB Nagar station.
How far is the walk from GTB Nagar metro to the PG lanes?
Short. On Hostel360 as of October 2026, 61 listings sit within 0.5 km of GTB Nagar metro in a straight line, 29 of them girls-only. Near Vishwavidyalaya station only 6 do. Our Hudson Lane point is about 0.53 km from the GTB Nagar station point, so most rooms here are a five to ten minute walk.
Distances run in a straight line from each station's map point to each listing's pin; the real walk is longer. Several listing addresses quote a GTB Nagar metro gate number, so ask the owner which gate to use.
| Band (straight line) | GTB Nagar metro: listings (girls-only) | Vishwavidyalaya metro: listings (girls-only) | Median Google rating, GTB Nagar band |
|---|---|---|---|
| Within 0.5 km | 61 (29) | 6 (2) | 4.65 (56 rated) |
| Within 1 km | 122 (69) | 65 (32) | 4.6 (113 rated) |
| Within 2 km | 321 (138) | 291 (140) | 4.5 (301 rated) |
| Within 3 km | 420 (182) | Not used | 4.6 (395 rated) |
The two stations are only about 0.88 km apart, so their 2 km rings overlap heavily. Within 1 km, 69 ÷ 122 = about 57% of GTB Nagar's listings are girls-only, against 32 ÷ 65 = about 49% around Vishwavidyalaya. If a short, lit walk from the train is your top rule, GTB Nagar gives you roughly ten times as many rooms inside 0.5 km.
What does the metro from GTB Nagar cost each month?
Between Rs 572 and Rs 2,236 a month for the routes DU students and aspirants use most. The official DMRC journey planner shows a weekday token of Rs 11 to Vishwavidyalaya, Rs 32 to Rajiv Chowk and Rs 43 to Rajendra Place, as of October 2026.
Fares are single-journey token fares from the DMRC journey planner and fares page, shortest route, weekday morning. Coaching usually runs six days a week, so we multiply by 26 days: fare x 2 x 26.
| GTB Nagar to | Who goes there | Token fare | Ride (DMRC) | Monthly: fare x 2 x 26 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vishwavidyalaya | North Campus classes | Rs 11 | 2 min | Rs 572 |
| Kashmere Gate | Interchange for Red and Violet Lines | Rs 21 | 9 min | Rs 1,092 |
| Rajiv Chowk | Central Delhi classes, Blue Line change | Rs 32 | 17 min | Rs 1,664 |
| Rajendra Place | Old Rajinder Nagar coaching lanes | Rs 43 | 31 min, change at Rajiv Chowk | Rs 2,236 |
| Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus | South Campus colleges | Rs 43 | 44 min | Rs 2,236 |
The gap adds up. A UPSC aspirant who sleeps in Hudson Lane but attends classes near Rajendra Place pays (2,236 minus 572) x 10 = Rs 16,640 more over a ten-month year than a DU student who rides two minutes to Vishwavidyalaya. Sunday tokens are lower: Rs 21 to Rajiv Chowk and Rs 32 to Rajendra Place.
If your classes are in Mukherjee Nagar, about 1.78 km from GTB Nagar station in a straight line, there is no metro leg at all; compare with our guide to PGs in Mukherjee Nagar. A student heading for South Campus should read our guide to PGs in Satya Niketan near South Campus before taking on a 44-minute ride twice a day.

Is a PG in GTB Nagar for girls safe after a late batch?
It can be, but safety here is decided building by building, not by colony name. Check three things in person: the walk from your metro gate after dark, whether the gate time fits your last batch or library slot, and whether the owner registers tenants with Delhi Police.
Save two numbers before you move. The Delhi Police website lists 1091 for women in distress and 112 as its 24x7 toll-free emergency number. The same site lists a Domestic Help/Tenant Registration service, which is how an owner registers you; our guide to police verification for PG and hostel residents explains the documents.
- Gate time against your real return. A class ending at 8 pm near Rajendra Place means 31 minutes on the train plus the walk from Rajendra Place station and from your GTB Nagar gate. Get the gate closing time in writing.
- The walk from the named gate. Walk from the exact GTB Nagar metro gate the owner mentions to the building door after 9 pm. Note street lights and any empty stretch.
- Which block and which pincode. In Vijay Nagar, confirm the block letter or Single Storey number. Make sure the agreement shows the same pincode, 110033 or 110009, that the owner uses for tenant registration.
- Agreement and deposit. Get the notice period and refund date in writing; see what to check in a PG rental agreement.
- Who holds keys and who stays on site. Ask whether a warden lives in, whether male staff sleep on site and whether visitors sign a register.
- CCTV that records. Ask to see the screen showing the gate and stairs, not just the camera.
- Exits above the ground floor. If the ground floor is a shop or kitchen, find the second staircase and check that roof doors are not locked. Refuse any basement bed.
- Power during study hours. Ask whether the inverter or generator runs fans and sockets, not only lights, from April to June when rooms are hottest.
- Mess timing against the metro. If dinner closes before your train from Rajiv Chowk gets in, ask whether a plate is kept aside.
When should you book a room in GTB Nagar for the 2027 exam cycle?
Move by February 2027 if you are writing the Civil Services prelims. The UPSC Annual Calendar 2027 sets the notification for 13 January 2027, the last date to apply as 2 February 2027 and the prelims for 23 May 2027.
That keeps March to May free for revision. Ask for a notice period that does not push you out before the Civil Services Main, which UPSC lists from 20 August 2027. DU students should follow the admission rounds in the North Campus guide instead.
