On Hostel360 as of October 2026, 77 listings carry Mukherjee Nagar in their address, and 57 of them use the 110033 pincode. If you want a PG in Mukherjee Nagar, start with Indra Vikas Colony, Bhai Parmanand Colony and Banda Bahadur Marg, then widen towards GTB Nagar metro, about 1.6 km away. Below: which blocks hold the rooms, what the metro to Karol Bagh or Vishwavidyalaya costs each month, and when to sign before the 2027 exam.
Current rooms are on our Mukherjee Nagar PG and hostel listings, with a separate filter for girls hostels in Mukherjee Nagar and the wider Delhi hostels and PGs page. How to judge a study room in general (light, quiet, safety, power) is covered in our accommodation guide for UPSC, SSC and CA aspirants; this page stays on Mukherjee Nagar's own blocks, pincodes and commute.

Which blocks of Mukherjee Nagar have the most PGs?
Indra Vikas Colony and Bhai Parmanand Colony appear in more Mukherjee Nagar listing addresses than any other block on Hostel360 (October 2026), and almost all of them sit in pincode 110033. Banda Bahadur Marg, Indra Vihar, Outram Lines and Hakikat Nagar follow, split across 110033 and 110009.
The table counts Hostel360 listings whose address names the area (an address text match), data checked October 2026. Owners write the Dhaka pocket as Dhaka Village or Dhaka Johar.
| Area / pincode | Listings | Girls-only | Boys-only | Co-ed | Median Google rating (rated listings) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mukherjee Nagar, all pincodes | 77 | 23 | 28 | 26 | 4.4 (76 rated) |
| Dhaka (110033: 5, 110009: 3) | 8 | 0 | 5 | 3 | 4.75 (8 rated) |
| Nehru Vihar (110054: 2, 110033: 1) | 3 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 4.1 (3 rated) |
Split by the pincode written in the address, the same 77 Mukherjee Nagar listings fall like this:
| Pincode | Listings | Blocks and roads named in those addresses |
|---|---|---|
| 110033 | 57 | Indra Vikas Colony, Bhai Parmanand Colony, Hakikat Nagar, Outram Lines, Banda Bahadur Marg, Indra Vihar, Munshi Ram Colony, Dhaka Johar, N Block |
| 110009 | 17 | Banda Bahadur Marg, Outram Lines, Indra Vikas Colony, Indra Vihar, Dhaka Village |
| 110054 | 2 | Nehru Vihar |
| 110090 | 1 | No block named |
Three things in the addresses matter more than the totals. First, the pincode does not mark a hard border. 57 ÷ 77 = 74% of listings give 110033, but several owners write 110009 and 110033 in the same address, so a pincode filter alone will miss rooms. Search by colony name too. Second, the gender mix changes by block. Addresses naming Indra Vikas Colony and Bhai Parmanand Colony are mostly boys-only or co-ed, while girls-only addresses lean towards Banda Bahadur Marg and Indra Vihar. Third, the listings that give the Batra Cinema crossing as their landmark are split across both pincodes and all three gender types, so a PG near Batra Cinema in Mukherjee Nagar is not one block but several.
Dhaka and Nehru Vihar are the spillover pockets when the main blocks are full. Dhaka has only 8 listings, but all 8 are rated 4.0 or higher on Google, with a median of 39.5 reviews. None is girls-only. Nehru Vihar has just 3 co-ed listings on Hostel360, so for a PG in Nehru Vihar, Delhi, expect to walk the lanes and ask rather than shortlist online. Across the whole area, 52 of the 76 rated Mukherjee Nagar listings, or 68%, score 4.0 or higher, which tells you about past residents, not about the room you will get.
How far is a PG in Mukherjee Nagar from the metro, and what does the ride cost?
The centre of our Mukherjee Nagar listings is about 1.6 km in a straight line from GTB Nagar metro and 1.9 km from Vishwavidyalaya. From GTB Nagar, DMRC's planner charges Rs 11 to Vishwavidyalaya and Rs 43 to Karol Bagh or Rajendra Place, which is about Rs 2,236 a month for a daily return trip to Old Rajinder Nagar classes.
If you plan to live here but attend classes or test series in Old Rajinder Nagar, price the commute before you sign. Fares below come from the official DMRC journey planner, checked in October 2026 for a weekday 9 am journey. Coaching usually runs six days a week, so we use 26 days a month: fare x 2 x 26.
| GTB Nagar to | Route (DMRC) | Weekday token | Monthly: fare x 2 x 26 | With 10% card discount |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vishwavidyalaya | Yellow Line, 1 stop, about 2 min | Rs 11 | Rs 572 | Rs 514.80 |
| Karol Bagh | Yellow Line to Rajiv Chowk, Blue Line towards Dwarka Sector 21; 12 stations, about 29 min | Rs 43 | Rs 2,236 | Rs 2,012.40 |
| Rajendra Place | Same change at Rajiv Chowk; 13 stations, about 31 min | Rs 43 | Rs 2,236 | Rs 2,012.40 |
The discount column uses DMRC's National Common Mobility Card page, which lists 10% off in peak hours and 20% off in non-peak hours. Taking the smaller peak discount for a morning ride, 2,236 x 0.9 = Rs 2,012.40. If both legs fall in non-peak hours, 2,236 x 0.8 = Rs 1,788.80. DMRC's page does not spell out the peak window, so check it at the station. Sunday test series cost less: the planner showed Rs 32 to Karol Bagh or Rajendra Place on a Sunday.
The gap between the two commutes adds up. Living in Mukherjee Nagar but studying in Old Rajinder Nagar costs 2,236 minus 572 = Rs 1,664 more each month in tokens than a Vishwavidyalaya commute, and 2,236 x 10 = Rs 22,360 over a 10-month course, before the walk or shared e-rickshaw to GTB Nagar. If your classes are in Old Rajinder Nagar, compare this with our guide to PGs in Old Rajinder Nagar for UPSC aspirants, and fit the fare into a full monthly budget for a UPSC aspirant in Delhi. We found no official e-rickshaw fare table, so that leg is not priced here.

Where should girls look when Mukherjee Nagar rooms run out?
South, towards GTB Nagar. Only 14 of the 56 listings within 0.5 km of the centre of Mukherjee Nagar are girls-only, about 25%. Within 1 km of GTB Nagar metro the figure is 69 of 122, about 57%, on Hostel360 as of October 2026.
Bands are straight-line distances; road distance is longer.
| Band (straight line) | Listings | Girls-only | Boys-only | Co-ed | Median Google rating (rated listings) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Within 0.5 km of Mukherjee Nagar centre | 56 | 14 | 21 | 21 | 4.3 (55 rated) |
| Within 1 km of Mukherjee Nagar centre | 72 | 21 | 25 | 26 | 4.3 (71 rated) |
| Within 2 km of Mukherjee Nagar centre | 135 | 48 | 45 | 42 | 4.5 (128 rated) |
| Within 3 km of Mukherjee Nagar centre | 235 | 107 | 60 | 68 | 4.5 (220 rated) |
| Within 0.5 km of GTB Nagar metro | 61 | 29 | 17 | 15 | 4.65 (56 rated) |
| Within 1 km of GTB Nagar metro | 122 | 69 | 27 | 26 | 4.6 (113 rated) |
The core of Mukherjee Nagar leans male and co-ed. As the circle widens, the girls-only share climbs from 25% to 107 ÷ 235 = 46% at 3 km, because the 3 km ring takes in GTB Nagar station and Hudson Lane, about 2.1 km from the centre of Mukherjee Nagar. A girls PG in Mukherjee Nagar itself is easiest to find on Banda Bahadur Marg and in Indra Vihar. If those are full, a room near GTB Nagar station puts you 1 stop from Vishwavidyalaya and on the same Yellow Line to Rajiv Chowk; our girls PG guide for GTB Nagar and Hudson Lane covers those lanes, curfews and the station walk. Boys have the opposite problem: a boys PG in Mukherjee Nagar is easiest in Indra Vikas Colony, Bhai Parmanand Colony and Dhaka.
When should you sign for a room before UPSC 2027?
Sign by November 2026 if you are sitting the 2027 exam. UPSC's 2027 programme puts the Civil Services notification on 13 January 2027, prelims on 23 May 2027 and mains from 20 August 2027, so an 11-month agreement from 1 November 2026 runs to 30 September 2027 and covers both stages.
The dates come from the UPSC programme of examinations for 2027, issued as on 20 May 2026. The last date to apply is 2 February 2027, and prelims fall 223 days after 12 October 2026. A move after January eats into revision before prelims, and an agreement ending in June or July leaves you room-hunting between prelims and mains. Ask for an exit clause with one month's notice so a prelims result does not leave you paying for a room you no longer need. Our PG rental agreement checklist lists the clauses to read.
What to check in a Mukherjee Nagar room before you pay
Visit on a weekday evening when the lanes are full, carry this list and get the answers in writing. Mukherjee Nagar rooms are built around coaching hours, so check the building, the paperwork and how the house rules fit your batch timings before you hand over a deposit.
- Which pincode is on the agreement. Make sure the address on the agreement matches the building, including 110009 or 110033 and the colony name, since you will need it for police verification and any later complaint.
- Police verification. Ask whether the owner registers tenants with the local police and which documents you must hand over. Our guide to police verification for PG residents explains the process.
- Deposit and the post-prelims exit. Get the deposit amount, deduction rules and refund date in writing, plus the notice period if you leave after the May prelims result.
- Basement rooms and reading halls. If the building offers a self-study hall or a cheaper ground-level room, ask which floor it is on, and walk away from any room or reading hall below ground.
- Fire exits. In a tall building on a narrow plot, count the staircases, check that the terrace door is unlocked, and look for an extinguisher on your floor before you choose an upper room.
- Power backup during study hours. Ask whether the inverter or generator runs fans and sockets or only lights, and test a socket with your charger during the visit.
- Mess timing against your batch. If you take a morning train to Karol Bagh, breakfast must be ready before you leave for GTB Nagar; ask whether late dinner is kept for evening batches.
- Curfew against late batches and libraries. Get the gate closing time in writing, and ask whether it is relaxed for test series that end late or for the 1.6 km walk back from the metro.
