Hostels & PG in Pune

Hinjewadi is Pune's primary IT hub — home to Infosys, Wipro, TCS, and hundreds of mid-size companies — and has abundant PG options in Phases 1, 2, and 3. Kharadi near EON IT Park is popular with Amazon and Zensar employees. Baner and Balewadi offer a good balance of proximity to both Hinjewadi and the city centre, with slightly higher rents of ₹9,000–₹14,000.

Shivajinagar and Kothrud are the closest and most affordable neighbourhoods to Savitribai Phule Pune University. Shared rooms here start at ₹5,000–₹7,000/month. Deccan Gymkhana is slightly pricier but very well-connected. Students from Symbiosis typically stay in Viman Nagar or Koregaon Park. All these areas have good PMPML bus routes and are well-served by Ola/Uber.

Most Pune hostels do not have restrictions on residents travelling on weekends — you simply inform the warden or use the hostel app to log an absence. A few stricter hostels require a signed leave form if you are away overnight. Flexible co-living spaces have no such requirement. Always check the hostel's house rules on the intake form before signing the agreement.

Symbiosis campuses are spread across the city, so the answer depends on yours — Viman Nagar and Kalyani Nagar for the Viman Nagar cluster, Model Colony and Shivajinagar for the Senapati Bapat Road institutes. MIT World Peace University sits on Paud Road in Kothrud, so Kothrud, Erandwane, and Karvenagar are the obvious PG belts. Fergusson College and COEP students mostly stay in Shivajinagar, Deccan Gymkhana, and Erandwane, all within walking or short-bus distance of campus.

Budget shared rooms in Katraj, Dhankawadi, Sinhagad Road, and Warje typically run ₹5,000–₹8,000 per month including mess. Central student belts like Kothrud, Shivajinagar, Erandwane, and Karvenagar sit around ₹7,000–₹11,000. The IT and premium belts — Baner, Balewadi, Kharadi, Viman Nagar, Kalyani Nagar, and Koregaon Park — range from ₹10,000 to ₹16,000, with managed co-living at the top of that band. Single occupancy and AC rooms add to every figure.

It is, if your locality is on a line. The Aqua Line runs from Vanaz in Kothrud through Deccan Gymkhana and Shivajinagar to Ramwadi near Kalyani Nagar, which covers a large share of the city's student belts. The Purple Line connects PCMC in the north to Swargate in the centre, useful for residents in the Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pimple Saudagar belt. Hinjewadi is not yet on an operational line, so PMPML buses and company shuttles remain the norm there.
