How many PGs are listed in Satya Niketan and Moti Bagh?
On Hostel360 as of October 2026, 43 listings name Satya Niketan in their address and 48 name Moti Bagh. Do not add the two: most Satya Niketan addresses also read "South Moti Bagh" or "Moti Bagh II", so they describe one cluster. Dhaula Kuan, across the road, has no listings by address.

Which lanes do the addresses name?
The listing addresses mostly name Satya Niketan Road, Moti Bagh II and Moti Gaon, with a few on the 3rd and 4th Lanes, in JJ Colony, in Block H and in Arakpur Bagh Mochi. Landmarks that recur are the Shiv Mandir and "opposite Sri Venkateswara College". Of the 39 rated Satya Niketan listings, 30 (about 77%) score 4.0 or higher on Google, with a median of 27 reviews, but a rating is no substitute for a visit.
Is a PG in Satya Niketan right for your South Campus college?
It depends on which college you mean. The University of Delhi's South Campus page lists 13 colleges under South Campus, but they are spread across south and west Delhi. Satya Niketan suits colleges on Benito Juarez Marg; for the rest, check the address first.
DU's page says South Campus was set up in 1973 and moved to Benito Juarez Marg, near Dhaula Kuan, in 1984, on 28 hectares. It names Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus as the nearest metro station. Sri Venkateswara College gives its own address as Benito Juarez Road, Dhaula Kuan, which is why "pg near Venkateswara College" and "PG in Satya Niketan" are close to the same search.
DU's list runs from Sri Venkateswara and Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma to Gargi, Maitreyi, Jesus and Mary and PGDAV. "South Campus" is a grouping, not one gate, so map the address on your college's own website and time the trip before booking.
Campus housing is thin. DU's page names three residences: Geetanjali Hostel for Women, Saramati Hostel for Men and the Aravalli PG Men's Hostel. That is why the private lanes opposite the campus fill up.

How much does the Pink Line from South Campus cost each month?
From Rs 572 to Rs 2,236 a month for the routes priced below. DMRC's journey planner gives Rs 11 to Moti Bagh, Rs 32 to Dilli Haat INA or Hauz Khas, and Rs 43 to Rajiv Chowk, Rajendra Place, Karol Bagh, GTB Nagar and Vishwavidyalaya, as of October 2026.
Fares are single-journey weekday fares from the official DMRC journey planner, boarding at Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus. They match the slabs on DMRC's fare page: Rs 11 up to 2 km, Rs 32 for 5 to 12 km and Rs 43 for 12 to 21 km, Monday to Saturday. Coaching runs six days a week, so the monthly figure is fare x 2 x 26.

Two catches. First, for Vishwavidyalaya the planner's "least distance" option walks you over the footbridge to Dhaula Kuan and onto the Airport Express, for Rs 75. Six days a week that is 75 x 2 x 26 = Rs 3,900 a month, or 3,900 - 2,236 = Rs 1,664 more than staying on the Pink Line through Azadpur. Pick the minimum-interchange route. Second, time is the bigger cost. A Rajendra Place batch means 36 x 2 = 72 minutes on the metro every day before you count the walk at each end.
When should you look for a room near South Campus?
Now, or in December. DU's academic calendar for 2026-27 puts the autumn vacation from 18 to 25 October 2026 and the next semester's classes from 1 January 2027. Rooms free up when students leave, so time visits to those breaks.
The notification, dated 1 July 2026, covers all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes:
- 18 to 25 October 2026, autumn vacation. Visit while lanes are quieter; classes resume on 26 October.
- 20 November 2026, dispersal of classes. Theory exams start on 4 December, so avoid moving in this window.
- 25 to 31 December 2026, winter vacation. The handover week for anyone starting on 1 January 2027.
- 3 June to 20 July 2027, summer vacation. Ask now whether you pay full rent, a retainer or nothing to keep your bed through these seven weeks.
Aspirants are not tied to DU's calendar, but they compete with it. A move in late December or late July puts you in the same weeks as students changing rooms, so a mid-semester start such as October may face less competition for the same lanes.
What to check before paying for a room in Satya Niketan
Check the address, the lease dates and the route to the station before you pay. In these lanes one building can be written as Satya Niketan, Moti Bagh II or Moti Gaon, and DU's calendar puts seven weeks of summer vacation inside any 11 month agreement that starts in August.
- Agreement: make sure the house number and lane in the agreement match the rent receipts and your ID address proof, whichever of the three local names the owner uses. Our guide to what to check in a PG rental agreement lists the clauses.
- Deposit: get in writing whether the deposit comes back if you leave at the start of the summer vacation on 3 June 2027, and how many days' notice that needs.
- Police verification: ask the owner to file your tenant verification and give you the copy; this matters more when the address is written in different ways. See our police verification guide for PG residents.
- Exits and basements: on an upper floor of a narrow house off Satya Niketan Road, find the second way out and check that parked scooters do not block the stairwell. Do not accept a basement room as a study room.
- Power backup: ask whether backup covers fans and sockets during the theory exams from 4 December 2026 and from 13 May 2027.
- Mess timing: if your batch is at Rajendra Place or GTB Nagar, you are 36 to 44 minutes away by metro. Ask whether dinner is kept for late returns or packed for early starts.
- Curfew: compare the gate time with your last class or library slot plus the ride back, and do the evening walk from the station to the gate yourself.
