PG Near Nirma University Ahmedabad: Gota and Tragad

Hostel360 lists 31 PGs and hostels within 2 km of Nirma University and 47 within 3 km as of October 2026, most of them behind the campus around Tragad or across SG Highway in Gota. B.Tech students should plan on one: Nirma's own admissions FAQ says B.Tech students get no campus hostel. Does Nirma University give B.Tech students a hostel room?

No, not at present. Nirma's 2026 B.Tech admissions FAQ says the university is not offering on-campus hostel rooms to B.Tech students and that campus hostels are for PG programme students only. The university hostels page adds that boys get hostel rooms only at postgraduate level, while girls can get them at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The two official pages differ. The B.Tech admissions page rules out a hostel for the whole programme but says "guidance for the accommodation is provided". The Nirma hostels page lists hostels H1 to H5, with H4 for girls. So a B.Tech boy should plan for a PG from day one, and a B.Tech girl should ask admissions in writing whether H4 is open to her.

Campus hostel cost, worked out per month

Nirma publishes room fees on programme pages. The law admissions page lists the on-campus girls hostel for 10 months, "considering a two-month vacation/internship period", with mess at Rs 58,800 and laundry at Rs 5,500 charged separately. Mess plus laundry is 58,800 + 5,500 = Rs 64,300.

The MBA admissions page quotes a different room: Rs 99,000 plus GST a year for a non-AC twin room without an attached washroom in 2026-27. That is 99,000 ÷ 12 = Rs 8,250 a month for the room alone, before GST and before food. The same page puts total capacity at five hostels and 4,000 beds.

Use Rs 15,730 a month as your yardstick for a PG quote that includes meals; compare a room-only quote with the room fee. Hostel360 holds no rent figures for these listings, so check current asking rents on the area pages below.

How far are PGs from Nirma University on SG Highway?

Close, but thin right at the gate. As of October 2026, Hostel360 has 4 listings within 1 km of the Nirma campus point, 31 within 2 km and 77 within 5 km. Supply jumps between 1 km and 2 km, because the large apartment blocks behind the campus and across the highway start at about 1.1 to 1.6 km.

Distances are straight-line, from the campus map pin on SG Highway to each listing's pin. Road distance is longer, especially with a railway crossing or a highway U-turn in the way. Ratings are the median Google rating of rated listings.

Boys have real choice close in: 12 boys-only listings within 2 km, plus 17 co-ed. Girls do not: 2 girls-only listings within 2 km and 3 within 3 km, against 43 within 8 km, so a girl without a hostel seat chooses between a co-ed PG nearby and a longer ride. Within 2 km, 25 of the 30 rated listings score 4.0 or higher, a starting filter rather than a substitute for a visit.

Gota, Tragad or Vaishnodevi Circle: which side of Nirma has more PGs?

The side behind the campus has the most. Of the 47 Hostel360 listings within 3 km, 25 carry the 382470 pincode, which covers Tragad, Jagatpur and the Godrej Garden City towers. Gota, across SG Highway, follows with listings in 382481 and 380060, and Vaishnodevi Circle adds 5 in 382501.

Behind the campus: Tragad and Godrej Garden City. Our nearest listing is 0.6 km away on Malabar County Road, and the high-rise cluster around Godrej Garden City and Tragad Road starts at about 1.6 km. One address in this belt mentions the Tragad railway crossing, which tells you to check how the walk runs when the barrier is down.

Across the highway: Gota. Two listings stand opposite the campus near Modi Shikshan Sankul at 1.15 km, and more sit farther out near Gota Cross Road and in Vasant Nagar township, still inside 3 km. South along the highway: Vaishnodevi Circle and Khoraj. Five listings carry 382501, the nearest three at 1.2 to 1.5 km, and this is where the girls-only options close to campus start.

What does the daily trip to Nirma cost you?

We could not price it with an official fare. The AMTS and Janmarg bus websites refused connections when we checked in October 2026, so we have no official fare table to multiply. What we can show is distance: a PG 1.6 km away means about 70 km of straight-line travel a month, before road detours.

The math assumes 22 class days a month and one return trip a day. Road distance is longer.

• Behind campus at 0.6 km: 0.6 x 2 x 22 = 26.4 km a month, an easy walk.
• Opposite campus in Gota at 1.15 km: 1.15 x 2 x 22 = 50.6 km a month, plus two highway crossings a day.
• Godrej Garden City from 1.6 km: 1.6 x 2 x 22 = 70.4 km a month, where a cycle or a shared auto starts to make sense.
• The edge of the 5 km band: 5 x 2 x 22 = 220 km a month, which is two-wheeler or bus territory.

The B.Tech FAQ also says NERF runs buses for all students "on chargeable basis" from across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, and the university's transport and parking page lists [email protected] as the contact. Neither page states the charge, so email for the fee and the nearest stop before you sign. If you will ride in, 20 of the 47 listings within 3 km tag parking.

What should you check before paying for a PG near Nirma University?

Walk the real route at class time, confirm what food is included, and read the agreement before any deposit. Around Nirma the traps are local: a railway crossing on the Tragad side, the highway crossing from Gota, very few girls-only rooms, and few listings that tag food at all.

• Food before the first lecture. Only 5 of the 47 listings within 3 km tag food. Ask whether breakfast is served early enough for a morning class and whether dinner is kept for students back late from labs.
• The Tragad crossing. Behind the campus, walk to the gate at your usual start time and again after an evening lab to see how long the railway barrier holds you.
• Crossing SG Highway after dark. From Gota, check where you cross on foot and whether that stretch is lit on your way back.
• Summer heat on top floors. Only 8 of the 47 listings within 3 km tag AC, and a room just under a tower's terrace runs hot in April and May. Ask which floor you are offered.
• Night gate time against exam weeks. Get the curfew in writing and ask whether it relaxes during end-semester exams and project submission nights.
• Agreement, notice and deposit. Match the notice period to your semester end so you are not paying for May and June if you go home. See what to check in a PG rental agreement.
