For RV College of Engineering, start with Rajarajeshwari Nagar, then look along the Purple Line toward Kengeri and, for lower rents, Magadi Road. On Stanza Living's RVCE page (updated August 2026), double rooms run ₹6,000 to ₹12,000 and triples ₹4,500 to ₹8,500, with RR Nagar properties at ₹10,899 to ₹12,699 and Magadi Road at ₹7,699 to ₹8,399. Be aware up front that Hostel360 has very few listings close to this campus, so this guide also tells you where else to look.

Key Takeaways

  • Pattanagere metro station on the Purple Line also goes by the names R.V. College of Engineering and RV University, and has been open since 30 August 2021.
  • As of October 2026, Hostel360 lists just 2 PGs within 1 km of RVCE, 3 within 3 km and 29 within 5 km. None of the three closest is men-only.
  • Our biggest nearby cluster is Banashankari (19 listings), starting 3.8 km away, around PES University's RR campus.
  • Stanza Living's RVCE page shows doubles at ₹6,000 to ₹12,000 and triples at ₹4,500 to ₹8,500 (August 2026). That's one operator, not a market average.
  • RVCE runs its own hostels and communicates fees each year once they're finalised, so check with the college before you sign a PG agreement.

The metro station that carries the college's name

RVCE, at RV Vidyaniketan Post on Mysuru Road's 8th Mile, has something few Bengaluru campuses do: a metro station named after it. Pattanagere station on the Purple Line also goes by the names R.V. College of Engineering and RV University. It opened on 30 August 2021 and sits between Jnanabharathi and Kengeri Bus Terminal stations.

That changes how you should search. You don't need a PG within walking distance of the campus gate. A PG within walking distance of a Purple Line station on this stretch is a fair candidate, as long as you check the full door-to-door time, including the walk at both ends. Kengeri Bus Terminal is one stop away in one direction and Jnanabharathi is one stop away in the other.

RV University shares the area, so you'll be competing with its students for rooms near the station. That's one more reason to start early.

What Hostel360 has near RVCE, honestly

As of October 2026, Hostel360 lists only 2 PGs and hostels within 1 km of RVCE, 3 within 3 km and 29 within 5 km. Of the 3 within 3 km, 2 are women-only and 1 is co-ed. We don't have a single men-only listing within 3 km of campus right now.

Here's everything close, plus the nearest men-only options:

Those Banashankari listings belong to the cluster around PES University's RR campus, which is why they make up most of our 5 km count. Our guide to PGs near PES University covers that area in detail. It's a workable option for RVCE students, but you'll share it with PES students and your commute will be longer than from RR Nagar.

Our advice, given the thin supply: use these listings as a starting shortlist, apply for the RVCE hostel early, and check other portals and visit RR Nagar and the Kengeri side in person too. A listing on our site isn't an endorsement, so see any room before you pay a deposit.

Neighbourhoods to search, closest first

Rajarajeshwari Nagar: the closest established area

RR Nagar is where our nearest listing sits, 0.6 km from campus. Stanza Living's RR Nagar properties run ₹10,899 to ₹12,699 a month on its RVCE page (August 2026), with meal plans advertised. Try here first if a short commute matters more than the lowest possible rent.

Kengeri: one stop down the Purple Line

Kengeri Bus Terminal station is the next stop after Pattanagere, so a PG near it gives you a one-stop ride to the station that serves campus. We don't have Kengeri listings in our 5 km data and haven't found a sourced rent, so treat it as an area to explore on the ground rather than one with a known price.

Magadi Road: the lowest sourced area prices

Stanza Living's Magadi Road properties run ₹7,699 to ₹8,399, the lowest area-level figures on its RVCE page. Magadi Road isn't next to campus, so map the bus or metro route and time it on a weekday morning before you commit.

Banashankari and Kumaraswamy Layout: bigger supply, longer ride

Banashankari has 19 of our listings within 5 km of RVCE, the nearest 3.8 km away. Shared rooms in Banashankari III Stage run about ₹5,000 to ₹8,500 on NoBroker (October 2026). Stanza's Kumaraswamy Layout properties run ₹10,299 to ₹14,299 on the same RVCE page. Pick this side if you value choice over a short commute.

The Stanza figures come from one operator's page, which advertises meal plans; owner-run PGs may price differently. Rents may also rise at renewal: the Bengaluru PG Association proposed a hike of about 5%, Asianet Newsable reported in early 2025.

Hostel first, PG as backup

RVCE does run hostels. The college says it communicates fees once they're finalised each year, so there's no official figure to quote here, and you should be wary of any guide that gives one. With so few PGs right next to campus, apply for a hostel seat as early as the college allows.

If you end up in a PG, run through this before paying:

  1. Time the full commute from the PG to Pattanagere station or the campus gate on a weekday morning.
  2. Ask which meals are included. Only 1 of our 3 listings within 3 km mentions food.
  3. Match the price to the room type. On Stanza's page, a single at ₹9,000 to ₹17,000 and a triple at ₹4,500 to ₹8,500 are very different budgets.
  4. For boys, widen the radius early. Our nearest men-only listings start at 3.8 km.
  5. Get the deposit and notice terms in writing.

The bottom line for RVCE students

Use Pattanagere station as your anchor: live in RR Nagar if you can, near Kengeri or another Purple Line stop if you can't, and treat Banashankari as the high-supply fallback. Browse the latest listings on our Bangalore PG and hostel page, and if you're comparing campuses, our guide to PGs near Christ University shows what a dense central market looks like.

Frequently asked questions

Pattanagere station on the Purple Line, which also goes by the names R.V. College of Engineering and RV University. It opened on 30 August 2021 and sits between Jnanabharathi and Kengeri Bus Terminal. A PG near another Purple Line station, especially Kengeri Bus Terminal one stop away, can work well for RVCE students.
Not on Hostel360. As of October 2026 we list just 2 PGs within 1 km of RVCE, 3 within 3 km and 29 within 5 km, most of them in Banashankari from about 3.8 km away. Apply early for the college hostel and search Rajarajeshwari Nagar and the Kengeri side in person as well.
Stanza Living's RVCE page, updated August 2026, shows singles at ₹9,000 to ₹17,000, doubles at ₹6,000 to ₹12,000 and triples at ₹4,500 to ₹8,500 a month. By area, RR Nagar runs ₹10,899 to ₹12,699 and Magadi Road ₹7,699 to ₹8,399. That's one operator's pricing, so compare it with owner-run PGs.
Within 3 km of campus, Hostel360 currently has no men-only listings. Our nearest are Mahatma Gandhi PG (Gents), SVS PG for Boys and Jwalamukhi Men's PG in Banashankari, 3.8 to 4 km away. Boys should also look in RR Nagar and near Kengeri Bus Terminal metro station, and apply early for an RVCE hostel seat.
Yes. RVCE runs hostels, and the college says fees are communicated once they're finalised each year, so be cautious about any website quoting a fixed figure. Given how few PGs sit right next to campus, apply for a hostel seat as early as the college allows and keep a PG shortlist as a backup.
