Choosing a girls hostel in Delhi

What differs when you are looking specifically for women-only accommodation in Delhi.

Choosing a girls hostel in Delhi

Advisory

A women-only hostel in Delhi is not simply a hostel that happens to have female residents. The properties on this page are registered as girls hostels, which in practice means a resident warden, a gate that is staffed rather than latched, a visitor register, and floors that men, including delivery staff and maintenance workers, do not enter unaccompanied. Those are the things worth verifying on a visit, because they are what the label is meant to guarantee and what a mixed property will not have.

Rent across Delhi sits at ₹6,000 – ₹17,000 a month, and women-only properties usually land in the upper half of that band. The premium is not arbitrary: staffed security, single and twin rooms rather than four- and six-bed dorms, and in-house meals all cost the operator money. If a girls hostel in Laxmi Nagar, Kamla Nagar, Dwarka and Rohini is quoting well below the city floor, ask what has been removed. It's normally the warden, the food, or the room-sharing count.

We list 760 properties in Delhi, Delhi NCR, and you can filter this page to women-only in one click. Contact goes straight to the operator; there is no brokerage and no agent between you.

  • Security you can verify on the visit

Ask who is at the gate after 10pm and meet them if you can. Check that the CCTV screen is live rather than a dead monitor in the lobby, that the entry is biometric or key-card rather than a shared key, and that the warden lives on site. A hostel that cannot show you these in five minutes is unlikely to have them at 2am.

  • Curfew and the late-arrival rule

Most girls hostels in Delhi run a curfew between 9pm and 10.30pm. What matters more than the hour is the exception policy: night shifts, exam season, a delayed train. Get the late-entry rule in writing before you pay the deposit, and ask whether it needs a parent's call each time.

  • Visitors, and who counts as one

Confirm where guests are received, whether parents and brothers may enter the room or only the common area, and the notice required for an overnight guest. Ask the same about maintenance and delivery staff — an otherwise strict property that lets a plumber up unaccompanied has a gap in the rule.

  • Rent, deposit and what refunds

Deposits in Delhi typically run one to two months' rent. Ask what is deducted at exit, how much notice ends the tenancy without forfeiting it, and whether electricity, wifi, laundry and meals are inside the quoted rent or billed on top. Get the number that lands in your account each month, not the headline rate.

  • Food, and what happens when you miss it

If meals are included, ask the mess timings against your class or shift hours, whether there is a kitchen or kettle you may use outside them, and how the vegetarian and non-vegetarian split works. A hostel whose dinner closes before your commute ends is effectively charging you for a meal you will not eat.

Hostels & PG in Delhi

Delhi NCR

Delhi NCR is India's largest urban agglomeration for rental accommodation, spanning Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad. The region hosts over 20 major universities including Delhi University, JNU and Jamia Millia, alongside corporate corridors in Cyber City Gurugram, Connaught Place and Noida's IT sectors. Coaching hubs in Mukherjee Nagar and Rajinder Nagar draw thousands of UPSC and competitive exam aspirants each year, making PG demand consistently high across the NCR.

PG and hostel prices vary dramatically by location, south Delhi commands premium rents while east Delhi and outer Noida sectors offer more low-cost options. Most PGs include meals, Wi-Fi and basic furnishing, though inclusions differ widely. Metro transport links is a major factor: areas along the Blue, Yellow or Magenta lines see higher demand and slightly higher rents than those further from stations. Comparing specific localities rather than broad city labels is essential, since a few kilometres can mean a large difference in rent, commute time and daily convenience.

Common questions

Questions about Delhi

Women-only hostels in Delhi generally sit in the upper half of the city's ₹6,000 – ₹17,000 band, because the label normally brings a resident warden, staffed entry and lower room-sharing counts. Single rooms with meals sit near the top; twin and triple sharing without food sit near the floor.

Laxmi Nagar, Kamla Nagar, Dwarka and Rohini carry the most women-only inventory in Delhi, largely because they sit near the colleges and offices residents commute to. Judge a locality by your own route and how well lit the last 500 metres are after dark, not by its reputation alone.

Most do, usually between 9pm and 10.30pm. The policy that matters is the exception — night shifts, exams, delayed travel — so ask for the late-entry rule in writing before paying the deposit.

Registered women-only properties restrict men to the reception or a designated visitors' area, with a register at the gate. Ask specifically about parents, brothers, and maintenance or delivery staff, since that is where policies differ most between properties.

Top neighbourhoods with extensive student accommodation and PGs in Delhi include Connaught Place, Karol Bagh, Chandni Chowk, Saket, Malviya Nagar, Hauz Khas, Green Park, Vasant Kunj. These areas provide direct proximity to major academic and commercial hubs such as DU North & South Campus, IIT Delhi, JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia.

Mukherjee Nagar (near GTB Nagar Metro) and Old Rajinder Nagar (near Karol Bagh) are the two dedicated UPSC coaching corridors in Delhi. PGs here cater specifically to aspirants, featuring quiet study libraries, flexible mess schedules, and single/double room options within walking distance of major coaching institutes.

Delhi Metro connects all major student corridors. Yellow Line links North Campus (Vishwa Vidyalaya) to South Delhi (Hauz Khas, Saket). Violet Line serves South Campus and coaching clusters, while Blue Line connects Karol Bagh, Patel Nagar, and Laxmi Nagar.
