SPIT has no hostel of its own, so if you're coming from outside Mumbai you'll be renting, and Andheri West, around the Bhavan's Campus in Munshi Nagar, is the place to look first. Asking rents seen on NoBroker in October 2026 put most shared rooms in Andheri West at ₹6,000 to ₹13,000 a month, mostly without food (NoBroker, Andheri West, October 2026). As of October 2026, Hostel360 lists 21 PGs and hostels within 1 km of SPIT and 112 within 3 km.

Key Takeaways

  • SPIT doesn't run a hostel. Its admissions FAQ points students to private apartments and guest houses nearby.
  • The campus is shared with SPCE and Bhavan's College, so the rooms around it serve students from more than one college.
  • Andheri West had 144 PG listings on NoBroker in October 2026, with shared rooms mostly ₹6,000 to ₹13,000.
  • Metro-side pockets can be good value: one shared room near Azad Nagar metro was listed at ₹6,500 and one in D N Nagar at ₹9,500 (NoBroker).
  • Of the 112 listings Hostel360 has within 3 km, 60 are co-ed, 31 men-only and 21 women-only.

One Campus, Three Colleges, No SPIT Hostel

SPIT's address is Bhavan's Campus, Munshi Nagar, Andheri (West), Mumbai 400058, according to the SPIT contact page. It shares that campus with Sardar Patel College of Engineering (SPCE) and Bhavan's College, which is why the lanes around Munshi Nagar are full of students who aren't from SPIT.

For housing, the key fact is simple: SPIT has no hostel of its own. Its admissions FAQ answers the accommodation question by pointing students to private apartments and guest houses in the area (SPIT Admissions FAQ).

A joint SPCE and SPIT hostel has been in planning, and had reached the architect tender stage when we checked. That's a long way from rooms you can move into, so don't build your plans around it. Don't assume you'll get a bed in another college's facility on the shared campus, either. Ask the SPIT office if you want to explore it, but line up a private option regardless.

Andheri West: 144 Listings on One Portal

The upside of having no hostel is that the private market next door is deep. NoBroker showed 144 PG listings in Andheri West when checked in October 2026, with asking rents running from ₹3,500 to ₹54,545 a month (NoBroker, Andheri West). Most shared rooms were asking ₹6,000 to ₹13,000, and most listings don't include food.

That wide spread is the thing to watch. A ₹3,500 bed space and a ₹54,545 private room are both "Andheri West", so filter by sharing type before you compare anything.

Two Metro stations frame the area near campus: D N Nagar, served by Line 1 and Line 2A, and Azad Nagar, on Line 1. Andheri station on the Western Railway is the main rail hub. NoBroker's own examples show how much rent shifts between pockets.

Around Azad Nagar metro

One shared room near Azad Nagar metro was listed at ₹6,500 on NoBroker in October 2026, right at the bottom of Andheri West's typical shared band. Line 1 runs east from here through Andheri, which helps if you pick up an internship on the other side of the railway line.

Around D N Nagar metro

A shared room in D N Nagar was listed at ₹9,500. D N Nagar is where Line 1 and Line 2A meet, so a PG here gives you two metro lines from one station, which is handy for weekend travel and internships further north.

Lokhandwala

Lokhandwala is the busier, pricier end: a shared room there was listed at ₹12,000. You get a lively commercial area with plenty of places to eat, which counts for something when most PGs won't cook for you.

These are single listings, not averages. Still, the pattern is useful: the metro-side pockets often ask less than Lokhandwala for a similar shared room.

Within a Kilometre of Munshi Nagar: What Hostel360 Lists

As of October 2026, Hostel360 lists 21 PGs and hostels within 1 km of SPIT, 112 within 3 km and 213 within 5 km. Of the 112 within 3 km, 60 are co-ed, 31 are men-only and 21 are women-only. Women students have fewer dedicated options than men here, so start earlier if you want a women-only place.

Andheri West, Andheri East or Vile Parle?

If Andheri West doesn't work out, a few neighbours are worth comparing. Rents below are asking prices seen on NoBroker in October 2026 unless marked otherwise; Hostel360 counts are our own listings within 5 km of SPIT.

The Vile Parle and Juhu NoBroker samples were small (7 to 10 listings each). Zolo figures are "from" prices for managed PGs, not typical rents.

Managed chains sit higher than the typical asking rents: Zolo lists Andheri West from ₹20,828 and Andheri East from ₹16,065 (Zolo Mumbai). They usually bundle services, so compare the full package, not just the headline number.

Vile Parle is also home to NMIMS, which is part of why its West side asks so much more; our guide to PGs near NMIMS in Vile Parle breaks down the East and West split. For the wider suburb, see the Andheri PG guide, and if you're on a tight budget, read how to find a PG in Mumbai under ₹10,000.

Before You Pay a Deposit in Andheri West

  • Get the full monthly cost. Ask about rent, food, electricity and laundry separately, since most Andheri West listings don't include meals.
  • Match the price to the room. With asking rents from ₹3,500 to ₹54,545 on NoBroker, make sure the quote is for the sharing type you'll actually get.
  • Test the commute. Walk the route to Munshi Nagar, or try it from D N Nagar or Azad Nagar metro, at the time you'd actually leave for class.
  • Put the deposit in writing. Note the amount, refund terms and notice period before you pay.
  • Visit after dark too. If you'll be coming back late from labs or college events, see the lane at night.
  • Women students: check entry timings, visitor rules and CCTV. YWCA Hostel, Andheri is one women-only option about 0.6 km from campus.

Bottom line: with no SPIT hostel to fall back on, start early, focus on Andheri West around the D N Nagar and Azad Nagar metro stations, and keep Vile Parle East or Andheri East as backups if nothing nearby fits.

Frequently asked questions

No. SPIT has no hostel of its own, and its admissions FAQ points students to private apartments and guest houses near the Andheri West campus. A joint SPCE and SPIT hostel has been in planning, at the architect tender stage when we checked, so don't count on it for the coming year. Plan to rent a PG or a shared flat near Munshi Nagar.
Asking rents on NoBroker in October 2026 showed most shared rooms in Andheri West at ₹6,000 to ₹13,000 a month, mostly without food. D N Nagar, served by Metro Line 1 and Line 2A, and Azad Nagar, on Line 1, are the nearby metro stations. Andheri on the Western Railway is the main train station. NoBroker listings from October 2026 showed shared rooms near both metro stations at or below Andheri West's typical range, so they're good pockets to start your search.
Yes, though fewer than men-only ones. As of October 2026, Hostel360 lists 21 women-only PGs and hostels within 3 km of SPIT, compared with 31 men-only and 60 co-ed. The data doesn't show that clearly. Zolo's managed PGs start from ₹16,065 in Andheri East against ₹20,828 in Andheri West, but NoBroker's typical shared asking rent in Andheri West is ₹6,000 to ₹13,000, and we don't have a comparable NoBroker range for Andheri East. Andheri East also puts the railway line between you and campus.
